Thilawa SEZ’s Elderly Support Program Upholds Tradition and Care in Neighboring Communities

Thilawa – June 5, 2026

Myanmar Japan Thilawa Development Limited (MJTD) has reaffirmed its commitment to community welfare through its annual Elderly Support Program, which honors and supports senior citizens aged 80 years and above in neighboring communities of Thilawa SEZ.

This year, TSEZ CSR Program of MJTD reached a total of 125 elders, each receiving MMK 200,000 in direct cash contributions. The program began with traditional Burmese customs of paying homage to elders before presenting the support, and for those unable to attend gatherings, the Management of MJTD and Staffs from Community Relations Department together with some of locators’ representatives of TSEZ ensured delivery directly to their homes, reflecting its dedication to inclusivity and respect.

On May 22, MJTD provided assistance to 25 elders in Aye Mya Thida Ward and Shwe Pyi Tharyar Ward, Kyauk Tan Township, with representatives from UPG Paint Co., Ltd. extending additional support. On May 26, 40 elders in Shwe Pyauk Village Tract, Kyauk Tan Township received assistance, accompanied by Foster Electric Thilawa Co., Ltd., which contributed Burmese traditional medicines. On May 29, 40 elders in Thida Myaing Ward, Kyauk Tan Township were supported, with Myanmar Yazaki Thilawa Co., Ltd. offering supplementary food items. On June 2, MJTD reached 20 elders in Alun Suk Village, Thanlyin Township, joined by representatives from CPP Fertilizer Co., Ltd., Alidac Healthcare Myanmar Limited, and Liwayway Foods Thilawa Co., Ltd., who provided additional contributions to further enhance the program’s impact.

The Elderly Support Program successfully combined financial assistance with cultural homage and additional contributions from locator companies, underscoring MJTD’s continued commitment to honoring cultural values and supporting the well-being of senior citizens. By fostering collaboration with TSEZ Locators and reinforcing traditional practices, MJTD continues to strengthen its role as a responsible business developer of TSEZ dedicated to uplifting the lives of elders in the communities surrounding Thilawa SEZ.
