Thilawa SEZ Thingyan Festival 2026 Brings Together Over 450 Participants

Thilawa, Yangon Region – April 10, 2026 

More than 450 participants gathered at the Thilawa Garden City of TPD to celebrate the Thilawa SEZ Thingyan Festival 2026, a vibrant event that showcased Myanmar’s cultural heritage while strengthening connections across the Thilawa SEZ community.

The festival was organized by the Community Relations Department of Myanmar Japan Thilawa Development (MJTD) with the support of Thilawa Property Development Limited (TPD) as part of ongoing CSR initiatives aimed at fostering closer relationships among the regulator, developer, investors (locators), employees and other stakeholders within Thilawa SEZ.

The event commenced with an opening address by Vice Chairperson of the Thilawa SEZ Management Committee (TSMC). This was followed by an official ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by representatives from TSMC, MJTD, TPD, MTSH and Locators’ representative- Foster Electric Myanmar, marking the formal opening of the celebration.

A highlight of the event was a series of traditional Thingyan music and dance performances presented by Thilawa SEZ companies and community members, including CPP Fertilizer, Suzuki Thilawa, Guston Amava, Foster Electric Myanmar, The Taste Origins, MJTD and members of the Thilawa community. The performances reflected the rich traditions of Myanmar’s New Year Festival and contributed to a festive and inclusive atmosphere.

The celebration continued with traditional water-splashing activities featuring Thanakha water, allowing participants to experience one of the most cherished customs of Thingyan. Guests also enjoyed a variety of traditional Thingyan delicacies generously provided by MJTD, MTSH, The Taste Origins, Lightion Myanmar, Liwayway Foods, Han Yoma Nutrition, Guston Amava, Velbon Myanmar, and G&G Convenience Store (Thilawa).

The festival provided a valuable opportunity for employees, investors, and business partners to interact beyond the workplace, strengthen friendships, and promote mutual understanding among members of the Thilawa SEZ community.

As one of the signature CSR activities within Thilawa SEZ, the Thingyan Festival continues to serve as a platform for cultural exchange, community engagement, and collaboration. The strong participation and enthusiastic support from more than 450 attendees reflected the unity, diversity, and cooperative spirit that define the Thilawa SEZ family.
