Environmental Impact Assessment

An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is the one of the process of evaluate the project impact, analyzing, monitoring and managing the expected and unexpected environmental consequences of adverse impact. EIA process drives to implement more effectively the environmental management plan, increase the value of the project, enable organization to plan better and conserve of environment and social consideration.

EIA Reports have been prepared and finalized a contractor who is specializing in environmental and social studies for a number of projects in accordance with the requirements of the Myanmar Environmental Impact Assessment Guidelines, to undertake the environmental impact assessment for Thilawa SEZ of Industrial Development Area - Zone A & B.

Myanmar Japan Thilawa Development Limited (MJTD) in respect of the ‘’Industrial Area Development Project In Thilawa SEZ’’ will at all times comply fully with:

  1. any and all commitments and obligations as set forth in the EIA Reports which have been reviewed by Thilawa SEZ Management Committee, and approved by Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation and
  2. any and all plans and the various components thereof, including without limitation, impact avoidance, mitigation and remediation measures and with respect to such commitments, obligations, plans and measures related to the development, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the project.

Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and Environmental Monitoring Plans (EMoPs) have been developed to monitor and minimize the environmental impacts associated with our industrial zone development projects and it provide mitigation measures required to minimize impact associated with project activities.
