Myanmar Japan Thilawa Development Limited (MJTD) was established on 10th January, 2014 as the operator and developer of Thilawa Special Economic Zone. It is the first SEZ in Myanmar and a monumental project strongly supported by the governments of Myanmar and Japan. Thilawa Special Economic Zone is where large scale and advanced manufacturing can be carried out with a lot of support from the government and advantages in taxes. Zone A was completed on August 2015 and the opening ceremony was held in September 2015. The success in attracting investors has led to expansion. MJTD started construction in Zone-B on February 2017 and MJTD is expanding more.
